Michelin

Consistently ranked a five-star tire manufacturer, Michelin may be the best brand in the world. And so they should be, having been making tires since the late 19th century. Their particular strength is tread wear, for which they offer warranties on replacements unlike many other brands.

German tire company Continental is the longest-running on this list, having been established in 1871. Their tires are known for excellent handling and grip in wet and dry conditions.

Goodyear is the all-American manufacturer that once supplied racing tires to Henry Ford. Nowadays, the company maintains a tire reputation for good value, all-weather handling and stopping ability.

Italy's Pirelli is closely associated with Formula One racing. And their tires aren't cheap. If you're interested in high speed and racing-level grip, then you're probably willing to invest the money.

Cooper is a brand of brands, incorporating Dick Cepek, Starfire Roadmaster and Mastercraft in its sizeable portfolio. The Cooper brand itself is known for generous warranties, affordability and good performance options.

Award-winning BFGoodrich has won accolades at the likes of the Baja California Contest and the Paris-Dakar Rally. Owned by Michelin since 1990, it was also the official tire supplier for the 2006 and 2007 World Rally Championships.
